Here’s a new reason to drink more coffee this month, for Nespresso has just introduced the new pair of limited edition chopsticks to its collection of Second Life items. A tribute to Asian dining culture, the chopsticks are decorated on the top with recycled Nespresso aluminium with the pale gold colour of the Volluto capsule, coupled with elegant motifs inspired by the coffee farms where the company’s many flavours start the journey to your cup.
Each of the Asia Second Life Chopsticks set make use of aluminium from 30 Nespresso capsules, all recycled from the Asian market. Other than hermetically sealing the coffees against external variables that could tamper with the coffee grounds within, the aluminium capsules also serve as the raw material of an everyday object as part of Nespresso’s recycling programme and the Second Life project, part of their commitment to providing delicious and sustainable cups of coffee.
The limited-edition set comes with accompanying chopsticks holder in a box made of FSC certified paper. Environmentally friendly inside and out, the consciously designed box can be reused as a Nespresso capsule dispenser that stores up to 12 capsules at a time.
To redeem the Second Life items, Nespresso customers are welcome take part in the Nespresso recycling campaign from 1 August to 1 September. It’s as easy as bringing a bag full of used capsules to your nearest Nespresso store for recycling and with purchase 100 Nespresso capsules. Then, take your pick from the three available Second Life items, which are the new Asia Second Life Chopsticks, as well as the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife and the 849 Nespresso Caran d’ Ache Pen.
First launched in 2016, the Second Life project underscores Nespresso’s concern for the environment in alignment to the AAA Sustainable Quality Programme, a collaboration with the Rainforest Alliance which aims to create positive impact for farmers, consumers and society, ensuring that each single gram of aluminium contained in every Nespresso capsule gets a meaningful second life. Through the Second Life programme, Nespresso’s infinitely recyclable aluminium capsules turn into new capsules or into Second Life exclusive products, allowing the Nespresso moment to last way past the last drop of coffee.
The Asia Second Life Chopsticks and other limited edition products are exclusively available at the Nespresso boutique in The Gardens Mall and the Nespresso Pop-Up stores at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and 1 Utama Shopping Centre.
