Manuel Mathieu Expands Artistic Practice With The Launch Of New Parfums

The Haitian artist steps into a new sensory dimension with unisex fragrances

Manuel Mathieu Parfums

Internationally acclaimed Haitian artist Manuel Mathieu is venturing into a new sensory dimension with the launch of Manuel Mathieu Parfums (MMP). The new collection of unisex fragrances marks his debut in the world of olfactory art.

With Manuel Mathieu Parfums, the artist invites us to experience beauty in a new form—sensorial, alive, and metamorphic. Known for his evocative paintings that delve into memory, identity, and transformation, Mathieu now translates his emotional landscapes into scent, redefining perfume as a medium of artistic expression.

With this inaugural collection, Mathieu introduces fragrance as a form of liquid architecture—intimate compositions that invite the wearer into dreamlike inner worlds.

Artistry Meets Olfactory

Each perfume becomes a narrative in its own right, weaving together personal memory and universal emotion. Inspired by his Haitian roots, global travels, and the metaphysical qualities of scent, he seeks to forge a new sensory language—one that connects the invisible to the tangible, and the individual to the world.

The debut collection features three original fragrances: île noire, ECCCO, and Dsire. Each creation explores themes of rebirth, transformation, and sensuality, reflecting the artist’s continued interest in the fluidity of identity and the power of introspection. Developed in collaboration with master perfumer Juliette Karagueuzoglou, Vice President at International Flavours & Fragrances (IFF), the scents emerged from months of quiet experimentation in Karagueuzoglou’s Parisian atelier.

“I conceived Manuel Mathieu Parfums as a bridge to the invisible—capable of transforming the moment and weaving deep connections,” says Mathieu. “In every scent, I see an emotion, a colour, an echo of my own artistic universe. Perfume, to me, is a way of painting the intangible and awakening the artist within each of us.”

The fragrances are crafted at the IFF Atelier du Parfumeur in Grasse, the historic heart of French perfumery, and bottled by Bougie & Senteur, ensuring each piece upholds the traditions of haute parfumerie.

Set to launch internationally in Spring 2025, the collection is now available for pre-order. As with his visual art, Mathieu approaches perfumery as an act of alchemy—transforming raw materials into emotive experiences that transcend the sum of their parts.
