The world-renowned House of Dancing Water has made a triumphant return to the stage at City of Dreams Macau. On 7 May, the attraction unveiled an all-new chapter that redefines theatrical spectacle and reinforces Macau’s growing status as a hub for cultural tourism.
The grand premiere was marked by a dazzling water-themed gala, drawing government officials, international celebrities, influencers, and global media. The glamorous event was also streamed live worldwide, giving audiences a first glimpse of the reinvented production that blends imagination, storytelling, and cutting-edge technology.
Continuing The Story
Originally launched in 2010, House of Dancing Water has long been a cultural icon and a cornerstone of Macau’s international appeal. This bold new chapter not only builds on its legacy but pushes creative boundaries, aligning with the city’s “Tourism+” strategy to diversify its entertainment offerings.
Set in a fantastical universe where love, courage, and destiny transcend time, the reimagined show introduces audiences to mesmerising new scenes including the Magic Garden, Aquarium Cage, and Future City. At the heart of the story is a poetic new motif—the Heart of the Ocean—which weaves together romance and heroism into a timeless epic.
A new character, the Sailor, adds a touch of playfulness and humour, enriching the emotional depth of the production. Audiences are taken on a visually stunning journey, made possible by a massive aquatic stage—holding more than five Olympic-sized swimming pools—dynamic lifts, laser grids, and 13 new design elements, including a striking human chandelier.
Grandiose Affair
Enhanced by an original orchestration and 24 custom-designed costumes, the performance features a world-class ensemble of nearly 300 cast and crew members from over 30 countries, including former Olympic athletes. Their passion and precision bring every sequence to life, from aerial ballet to high dives from 25 metres.
The theatre now boasts improved seating and two luxurious VVIP boxes, offering unmatched comfort and an intimate viewing experience. Behind the scenes, state-of-the-art systems support each breathtaking feat.
Lawrence Ho, Chairman and CEO of Melco Resorts & Entertainment, explained that the new House of Dancing Water reflects our commitment to showcasing Macau’s cultural and creative potential. “We’re proud to present a show that celebrates imagination, innovation, and artistry on a global stage.”
The reimagined House of Dancing Water opens to the public starting 9 May.
