The latest installation to take its place among the 92 works of art housed in Park Hyatt Zurich is ‘Network’, by Swiss artist Martina Vontobel. The 5-piece steel wire net installation is made of copper-plated iron twisted into taut lengths that span 2.4m high and 6.5 m long.
Park Hyatt’s commitment to art sees its public areas as perfect spaces in which to display its collection that was co-curated together with Dr. Fritz W. Meyer, a private collector, who consulted the Park Hyatt Zurich as art coordinator. Legend has it that the Park Hyatt art project came about after Dr. Meyer took a quiet stroll with the founder of the Hyatt hotel group in 1989 from Burkliplatz to the Escherweise parking area on which the hotel stands. Dr. Meyer’s own impressive collection was shown at St. Gallen’s Museum of Art in 1994 in a show entitled “From Jean Arp to Keith Haring.â€
‘Network’ now takes pride of place in the lobby lounge and like its title, is an invitation to expand one’s network in the hotel. That Park Hyatt Zurich is a natural meeting hub for international guests to convene is a given.
