A Mahjong set valued at US$1,888,888 is unlikely to be described as merely a game. Created by Singapore-based Imperial Harvest, the world’s only bespoke Imperial Feng Shui Mahjong Set is a singular expression of craftsmanship, cultural symbolism and luxury design.
Inspired by the Chinese association of the number eight with prosperity and abundance, the one-of-one creation has been conceived as a modern heirloom—where exceptional materials meet the principles of Imperial Feng Shui.
Where Exceptional Materials Meet Exceptional Craftsmanship
The set is housed within a bespoke trunk wrapped in Himalayan Niloticus crocodile leather, a rare material distinguished by its natural gradient reminiscent of snow-capped peaks. The interior is finished in aerospace-grade Alcantara, the same material used in the cabins of high-performance automobiles, offering both tactile refinement and protection for the precious contents.
At its centre are 156 Mahjong tiles, each carved from untreated Grade A Burmese black jadeite. Revered for its rarity and symbolic association with protection and prosperity, black jadeite elevates the set beyond a functional object into a highly collectible work of art.
Reimagining Mahjong Through Imperial Feng Shui
Under the guidance of Grand Master David Goh, traditional Mahjong elements have been redesigned to reflect deeper metaphysical meaning. The familiar animal tiles have been replaced by the Four Celestial Guardians—the Azure Dragon, Vermilion Phoenix, White Tiger and Black Tortoise—while flower tiles now feature auspicious creatures representing fortune, prosperity, longevity and happiness.
The Seven Dots tile has also been reinterpreted through the “Seven Star Lighting” configuration, a Feng Shui arrangement intended to enhance balance, clarity and strategic wisdom. Meanwhile, the Character suit adopts English typography, creating a contemporary expression designed for a global audience.
