TAG Heuer Captures Indy 500 Spirit In New Formula 1 Solargraph Edition

A new chapter in the brand’s long-running racing legacy.

At the intersection of endurance, precision and spectacle, TAG Heuer introduces a new Formula 1 Solargraph X Indy 500 edition—translating the intensity of motorsport’s most demanding race into a contemporary expression of design, light-powered innovation and heritage.

At the Indianapolis 500, where engines surge toward the Yard of Bricks and outcomes are defined in fractions of a second, timing is not a backdrop—it is the race itself. It is within this environment that TAG Heuer continues its long-standing dialogue with motorsport, a relationship that has shaped the brand’s identity since the earliest precision instruments created by Edouard Heuer.

TAG Heuer Indy 500

The Indy 500, contested since 1911, remains one of racing’s ultimate tests of endurance and focus. For TAG Heuer, its rhythm mirrors a broader philosophy: performance measured under pressure, where precision defines legacy. Since 1986, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection has carried this ethos into a more accessible design language, balancing technical intent with everyday wearability.

The latest collaboration between TAG Heuer and the Indy 500 marks the thirteenth dedicated edition in this partnership. It also continues the evolution of the Formula 1 Solargraph line, first introduced in 2025, which brought light-powered autonomy into a collection defined by its motorsport DNA.

SHAPED BY SPEED AND SYMBOLISM

The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph X Indy 500 is built around a 38 mm case that preserves the compact, functional proportions long associated with the collection. Its design language reflects a broader shift in how motorsport culture is experienced—less exclusive, more expressive, and increasingly shaped by a diverse global audience.

Subtle references to the Indy 500 are woven throughout the watch. The caseback and dial feature the race’s official emblem alongside a textured brick motif, a nod to the legendary Yard of Bricks at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway—the finish line that has defined generations of racing history.

The dial itself is rendered in deep black, contrasted by a brown minuterie that adds depth without compromising clarity. A sandblasted steel case reinforces the watch’s utilitarian character, echoing the raw, functional surfaces of racing machinery.

Framing the dial is the bidirectional TH-Polylight bezel, a signature element of the Formula 1 collection. Lightweight and resistant, it introduces a sense of motion within the design while maintaining precision in function—an aesthetic reflection of speed contained within structure.

Legibility remains central. Applied indexes coated in white Super-LumiNova ensure clarity in varying conditions, while the Mercedes-style hour hand and integrated date at three o’clock maintain balance and readability. The familiar TAG Heuer shields at key positions anchor the design within its established visual identity.

BUILT FOR LONGEVITY

At its core, the watch is driven by the Solargraph movement, which uses both natural and artificial light as a continuous energy source. A brief exposure to sunlight powers the watch for an entire day, while a full charge—achieved in under 40 hours—can deliver up to ten months of autonomy in darkness. Even after stopping, the movement restarts within seconds of light exposure, underscoring its practical resilience.

The steel three-row bracelet completes the design, offering durability and comfort suited to daily wear. The result is a timepiece that moves between contexts with ease, maintaining its connection to performance while adapting to everyday life.

Limited to 1,110 pieces, the edition is presented in bespoke packaging featuring Indy 500 detailing, reinforcing its link to one of motorsport’s most iconic events.
