From 22 May to 13 June 2026, Vivid Sydney once again casts its luminous spell across the harbour city, unveiling a 23-day programme that celebrates the full spectrum of creative expression. Spanning Vivid Light, Music, Minds and Food, this year’s edition promises a broader, more immersive experience—one that extends well beyond nightfall.
Follow The Lights
At its heart is the ever-popular Vivid Light Walk, a continuous 6.5-kilometre trail that threads through the city, featuring more than 43 installations and projections by leading local and international artists. In keeping with the festival’s democratic spirit, over 80 per cent of events remain free, including the entire Light Walk and a series of open-air performances and activations.
2026 also marks a new chapter under Festival Director Brett Sheehy, whose appointment signals an expanded creative vision. This year introduces new artforms—from aerial performance to theatre, dance and daytime public art—positioning Vivid Sydney as a fully rounded, multidisciplinary arts festival on the global stage.

Alongside its visual spectacle, the programme leans into experience: free live music at Tumbalong Nights, thought-provoking talks under Vivid Minds, and an evolving culinary offering that reflects Sydney’s dynamic food scene. The result is a festival that invites participation as much as observation—whether wandering the illuminated waterfront or engaging in its more intimate cultural moments.
Cultural Spectacle
Since its inception in 2009, the event has grown to become a prominent arts and culture feature on Australia’s events calendar. Minister for Jobs and Tourism Steve Kamper Steve Kamper points out that, few cities can rival Sydney’s natural and cultural backdrop.
With its sweeping harbour vistas and vibrant creative community, Vivid continues to redefine how the city is experienced—transforming familiar landmarks into a canvas of innovation, and winter nights into something altogether more radiant.
Tickets for Vivid Sydney 2026 are already on sale. For more information and for a full list of events pop by the official website.
