First Look Inside Vanta: Singapore’s S$30 million Private Members Club

Nestled within MacDonald House, the new space is designed to foster connections

Very soon, Singapore’s Orchard Road will witness the unveiling of Vanta, a private members’ club set to redefine exclusivity, culture, and innovation in the region. Located in the newly transformed MacDonald House, the club emerges from an ambitious S$30 million redevelopment spanning 16,000 square feet. The two-level space features a mezzanine overlooking the main salon, providing panoramic views alongside discreet enclaves ideal for quiet reflection or confidential meetings.

What truly sets Vanta apart is not only its aesthetic grandeur but also its commitment to fostering genuine connections among its members. In an era when many private clubs rely on exclusivity as a symbol of status, Vanta redefines it through purposeful curation of its community and experiences. Membership is strictly invitation-only, bringing together entrepreneurs, creatives, investors, and visionaries united by a shared desire to shape the future of business, art, and culture. “We prioritise how members use their influence rather than focusing on titles or net worth,” Lin adds. “The community is bound by a desire to build legacies, fuel progress, and engage in significant dialogue.”

TASTEMAKERS’ HAVEN

Wayne Lin, CEO of Vanta.

More than just a private club, Vanta is destined to become a sanctuary for Asia’s leading tastemakers—a space where rare spirits, world-class dining, and meaningful connection seamlessly intertwine. Vanta is the culmination of a meticulous two-year journey involving cultural research, architectural design, and strategic collaboration, resulting in a venue that reflects the evolving ethos of Asia’s new generation of leaders.

“We knew Vanta had to be more than visually impressive,” says Lin. “One of our crucial early decisions was to ground the club in cultural intelligence rather than luxury alone. We spent over two years studying the evolving priorities of Asia’s new generation of tastemakers—people who value privacy, purpose, and depth as much as prestige.”

SANCTUARY OF INFLUENCE AND ELEGANCE

The club will be housed within MacDonald House on Orchard Road.

This emphasis on cultural intelligence over ostentation is evident throughout Vanta’s design and programming. The club’s architectural layout artfully balances grand social salons with intimate private nooks, catering to members’ dual desires for communal engagement and personal sanctuary. Italian marble and quartz surfaces blend with bespoke materials chosen to evoke both timeless elegance and regional relevance. “Secluded dining rooms and reflective alcoves address members’ need for sanctuary within a community,” Lin explains.

Central to the club’s identity is its innovative approach to food and drink, conceived not as mere amenities but as essential catalysts for connection. Vanta has enlisted Michelin-starred Consulting Chef Alvin Leung, whose bold and inventive interpretation of Chinese cuisine sets a daring culinary tone. “This is the first time Chef Alvin Leung has been so deeply involved in a project of this nature, bringing his creativity and bold interpretation of Chinese cuisine in a way that perfectly fits our ethos, which is rooted in heritage and global relevance,” Lin enthuses.

“With Asia rising as a centre for global innovation, our ambition is for it to be recognised as a platform where regional ideas become global trends and where new partnerships and collaborations emerge shaping business, art, and technology.” – Wayne Lin.

Complementing the food programme is an extraordinary beverage selection centred on an ever-evolving cellar of investment-grade whiskies, rare single malts, collectible bottlings, and limited-release wines from the world’s most prestigious vineyards. A curated range of Japanese sakes—including small-batch brews, aged koshu, and coveted junmai daiginjo—adds depth to the club’s offering. Exclusive tastings, masterclasses, and immersive explorations will deepen members’ appreciation and knowledge. “Food and drink are not just amenities at Vanta,” Lin emphasises. “They are integral to our identity. After all, meaningful connections often begin at the dining table.”

EPICENTRE FOR CULTURE

Vanta also aims to invigorate Singapore’s cultural landscape beyond its physical walls, hosting a calendar of art exhibitions, intimate talks, and cultural salons. These events, curated in partnership with renowned local and international collaborators, seek to spark dialogue and creativity, positioning Vanta as a vibrant hub for intellectual exchange. “With Asia rising as a centre for global innovation, our ambition is for Vanta to be recognised as a platform where regional ideas become global trends and where new partnerships and collaborations emerge, shaping business, art, and technology.”

Singapore is no stranger to elite private clubs, yet Vanta seeks to distinguish itself by rejecting exclusivity as mere social cachet. “Exclusivity today is defined by quality of connection, not just limited access,” Lin notes. “We look beyond traditional luxury amenities, focusing instead on purposeful interactions that result in real opportunities. One night a member might connect with a fintech pioneer; the next, discuss art with a rising curator.” This dynamic, cross-disciplinary networking is central to the club’s ethos, reflecting the interconnected and rapidly evolving nature of Asia’s business and creative ecosystems.

LUXURY PLAYGROUND

Spread across two-levels, the club will feature refined dining and lounge salons.

Adding a modern recreational twist, Vanta will feature a state-of-the-art AI golf simulator, offering members leisure and an informal setting to foster camaraderie and friendly competition. This blend of tradition and innovation encapsulates the club’s broader philosophy—one that respects heritage while embracing the future.

From its inception, the club’s creators recognised the importance of intentionality—from architectural choices to programming—in delivering a meaningful experience. “Every decision from architecture to programming reinforces Vanta as a space of cultural significance and modern connection,” Lin says. The invitation-only membership ensures a carefully curated mix of talents and perspectives, amplifying Vanta’s role as a nexus for leadership and creativity.

As Vanta prepares to open this December, anticipation runs high for what promises to be a transformative addition to Singapore’s social and cultural fabric. For Lin, Vanta is more than a club—it is a sanctuary for Asia’s future leaders to exchange ideas, forge partnerships, and inspire lasting impact. In essence, it is a rarefied space thoughtfully designed to foster dialogue, discovery, and distinction.
