When it comes to discussing tequila it’s hard to not consider Clase Azul in the conversation. The luxury Mexican tequila brand has made tremendous strides in recent years, fuelled in large part by its distinctive, hand-painted ceramic decanters and its 100% blue agave spirit.
Expanding its range of offerings, Clase Azul México has now introduced an innovative expression of tequila with the launch of Clase Azul Tequila Blanco Ahumado. At a recent experiential showcase at Sushi Bell Kuala Lumpur, guests were given a first-hand taste of the delicately smoky, unaged spirit that celebrates ancestral tequila-making methods.
Fire And Soul

Designed to captivate the senses, Clase Azul Tequila Blanco Ahumado embodies the magic of Mexican culture while showcasing the transformative power of fire on agave. Made exclusively from blue agave (Agave tequilana var. azul) cultivated in Los Altos de Jalisco, the agave is traditionally cooked in a pit oven, heated with wood and volcanic rock.
This artisanal process imparts a distinctive depth and smoky character, resulting in a spirit that is both full-bodied and complex. The aroma blends smoked agave with hints of fresh plum and red apple, while the palate delivers smoked agave and fresh lemon, followed by a silky, mineral-driven finish with subtle smoky undertones.
Taste And Heritage

Clase Azul recommends enjoying Blanco Ahumado neat, ideally in a flute glass to fully appreciate its nuanced profile. The tequila is presented in a signature decanter, crafted from materials that reflect the traditional processes used to create the spirit.
The glass finish evokes the smoke of cooking, the dark ceramic base recalls volcanic rocks, and the copper cap and emblem nod to the stills used in distillation, creating a vessel that is as artful as the tequila it holds.
The inaugural release of Blanco Ahumado comes in an exclusive case, celebrating its status as one of Clase Azul’s icons. Like all Clase Azul expressions, it is kosher-certified by OK Kosher, underscoring the brand’s commitment to quality. It also supports Mexican artisans through Fundación Causa Azul, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering artisan communities and preserving cultural legacies.

The brand’s emblem—a circle symbolising transformation, leaves representing nature, and brushstrokes reflecting the human touch—captures the ethos of Clase Azul: a spirit of artistry, heritage, and conscious luxury.
Clase Azul Tequila Blanco Ahumado is available in limited quantities, offering enthusiasts a rare opportunity to experience a tequila that blends tradition, innovation, and the soul of Mexico.
