Irama Asli dan Asal 2025 (Indigenous Rhythms Festival)

  • Date: 12 – 14 December 2025, 10am – 10pm
  • Venue: Level G, East Entrance, Berjaya Times Square

The Indigenous Rhythms Festival (Irama Asli & Asal) returns this December after its strong 2024 debut. Organised by the Yayasan Kesenian Orang Asli & Asal (YKOA) with support from MOTAC, the festival will take place at Berjaya Times Square. It unites the Orang Asli of Peninsular Malaysia and the Orang Asal of Sabah and Sarawak. Visitors can expect live indigenous music, traditional performances, craft showcases, workshops, and an artisan bazaar. The goal is simple yet powerful: to spark awareness, deepen appreciation, and preserve the cultural identity of Malaysia’s first peoples.

The festival also honours the legacy of the late Datuk Antony Ratos, whose lifelong work uplifted indigenous communities through exhibitions and rural outreach. His vision lives on through Irama Asli & Asal, now led by YKOA Chairman Dr Andre Ratos. He sees the event as a movement that protects ancestral knowledge while celebrating cultural diversity. YKOA also invites the public to participate as vendors, strengthening community involvement. The festival is free to all and runs daily from 10am to 10pm.
