Balmain has ushered in a new chapter with Antonin Tron as its new Creative Director, beginning this month. The appointment of his tenure signals a refined shift for the Parisian maison, one rooted in craftsmanship, modernity, and emotional design.

Mayhoola CEO and Balmain Chairman Rachid Mohamed Rachid praised the decision. He highlighted Tron’s “thoughtful approach to design,” calling it a blend of artistic sensitivity and deep technical skill. He added that Tron, together with CEO Matteo Sgarbossa, will guide Balmain into a future that honours its storied heritage while embracing a renewed creative vision.

A Designer with Architectural Sensibility

Balmain CEO Matteo Sgarbossa echoed this sentiment. He described Tron’s work as grounded in draping and the physicality of fabric. Each piece begins with movement, structure, and form. This approach, Sgarbossa noted, aligns closely with Pierre Balmain’s belief that “dressmaking is the architecture of movement.”

Sgarbossa emphasised that Tron shares the house’s values of creativity, elegance, and human connection. He also confirmed that the designer will debut his first collection for the maison in Paris this March.

Honouring Legacy, Shaping the Future

For Tron, the appointment marks both a professional milestone and a deeply personal honour. He expressed gratitude to Rachid and Sgarbossa for trusting him with the house’s creative direction. He also paid tribute to Olivier Rousteing, who transformed Balmain into a global cultural force over the past decade.

Tron spoke of Balmain’s essence with visible admiration. He described the house as one defined by savoir-faire, culture, sensuality, and elegance. He added that its bold yet precise vision resonates with him, and he feels privileged to build on its extraordinary legacy.

Born in Paris in 1984, Antonin Tron trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, graduating in 2008. His career spans seventeen years at some of fashion’s most influential houses, including Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Balenciaga, and most recently Saint Laurent.

He launched his own label, ATLEIN, in 2016, where his mastery of cut and movement earned swift industry acclaim. Moving forward, Tron will dedicate himself fully to Balmain.

His debut collection, Balmain Fall/Winter 2026–2027, will take place in Paris next March — marking the beginning of a new Balmain era, shaped by a designer who understands both the weight of tradition and the thrill of reinvention.
