In a striking continuation of its spacefaring history, OMEGA has launched seven stunning new models in its iconic Speedmaster Dark and Grey Side of the Moon collection. The release pays homage to the spirit of lunar exploration, blending cutting-edge ceramic engineering with sleek design to create timepieces that are as technically sophisticated as they are visually captivating.
Lunar Legacy
Each model in the new collection embodies OMEGA’s unwavering commitment to precision, innovation, and heritage. Featuring newly refined ceramic cases, slimmer profiles, and Master Chronometer-certified movements, these watches represent the most significant update to the collection since its debut over a decade ago.
The inspiration for the collection dates back to Apollo 8 in 1968, when the crew became the first humans to orbit the Moon. As astronaut Jim Lovell signed off with his now-legendary words, “we’ll see you on the other side,” each crew member wore an OMEGA Speedmaster, a moment that cemented the watch’s place in space history.
Now, in 2025, OMEGA celebrates that legacy with a line-up of watches that not only honour the past but redefine the future.
Mastery In Ceramic and Design
At the heart of this evolution is OMEGA’s unmatched mastery of ceramic craftsmanship. The collection showcases a new bevelled and polished ceramic process, giving each case a refined brilliance and tactile depth. Complementing this is the brand’s enhanced Liquidmetal™ technology, which adds scratch resistance and a sharper aesthetic to bezels and crowns.
The new models also feature two-layer ceramic dials, a feat of engineering that introduces a sense of depth and light play, thanks to laser-brushed textures and diamond-polished details.
Icons For New Era
Among the standout models is a slimmer manual-winding edition, powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9908, with a striking red chronograph hand and a minimalist matte black dial. There’s also a reimagined take on the original Dark Side of the Moon, now boasting enhanced proportions and finishing details.
One of the most emotive additions is the Apollo 8 tribute model, powered by the Calibre 3869. This piece features a laser-ablated lunar surface visible through both the skeletonised dial and transparent caseback, representing the near and far sides of the Moon. This represents an intricate nod to astronaut Lovell’s famous observation: “The Moon is essentially grey.”
Straps With Substance
Form meets function in the new strap designs. Nylon options are now rubber-lined for comfort, while the new rubber straps feature lunar surface motifs on their underside—a subtle but powerful connection to the Speedmaster’s cosmic heritage.
OMEGA’s new Dark and Grey Side of the Moon collection doesn’t just echo the brand’s past triumphs, it propels the Speedmaster firmly into the future. With refined aesthetics, advanced materials, and deep historical resonance, this is a collection designed for those who admire precision, progress, and the romance of exploration.
