A bold new chapter in luxury sportswear begins today with the global launch of the Balenciaga | PUMA collaboration, first revealed during Balenciaga’s Winter 25 runway. Seamlessly fusing the couture house’s radical silhouettes with PUMA’s athletic heritage, the partnership redefines the boundaries of technical fashion.
The campaign—shot by Ari Versluis, renowned for his “Exactitudes” series with Ellie Uyttenbroek—captures an arresting visual narrative. Models Diede, Tianee, Brooks, Yav, and Joe, styled in looks from the collaboration alongside Winter 25 pieces, perform visceral gabber dance routines against the dreamlike backdrop of Françoise Hardy’s Tous Les Garçons et Les Filles. Versluis, who recently lensed Demna’s final ready-to-wear collection for Balenciaga, brings an anthropological intimacy to the visuals.
At the heart of the footwear offering is the reimagined Speedcat sneaker—first launched in 1999. The “Destroyed Speedcat” deconstructs its motorsport DNA with a pliable, sock-like upper and a cut-off Formstrip, nodding to PUMA’s 1958 archive. A supple leather slip-on version follows, while the Balenciaga | PUMA Ballerina innovatively blends Speedcat’s athletic base with the elegance of a satin ballet flat.
Apparel leans into Balenciaga’s craftsmanship and precision tailoring, bringing elevated technique to sport silhouettes. Extra-dry molleton sweatsuits, emblazoned with a lion crest, evoke classic football warm-ups. Tracksuits in crisp nylons revive 90s-era PUMA aesthetics, while statement pieces like a shearling “tracksuit” jacket and trompe-l’œil bathrobe coat challenge sartorial expectations.
Co-branded graphics span a range of hoodies, tees and shorts—available in signature Balenciaga cuts: fitted, medium, and oversized. The Balenciaga | PUMA collection is available now at select Balenciaga boutiques and on balenciaga.com.
