A brand synonymous in the world of high-tech appliances, Dyson has made household gadgets both sexy and fashionable. But beyond aesthetics and design, each also boasts unparalleled tech and capabilities. It’s latest is a fitting proof of the brand’s resolve – the PencilVac, the slimmest and most advanced vacuum Dyson has made to date.
Measuring just 38mm in diameter, this ultra-lightweight, cordless vacuum combines breakthrough motor technology with a new hair-detangling brush head. Combined, it is designed to make cleaning effortless and more effective.
Weighing only 1.8kg, the PencilVac is engineered for manoeuvrability and precision. Its standout feature is the Fluffycones cleaner head, which incorporates four conical brush bars rotating in opposite directions. This dual-motion mechanism allows for deep cleaning both forwards and backwards, while automatically ejecting long hair to prevent tangling—a common issue in conventional vacuums.
Slim And Sophisticated
Powered by Dyson’s latest Hyperdymium 140k motor, the PencilVac achieves powerful suction in a remarkably compact form. At just 28mm in diameter, the new motor is Dyson’s smallest and fastest yet, spinning up to 140,000RPM. According to Dyson, it delivers 34% greater power density than its predecessor.
“We’ve long aimed to create a vacuum as slim as 38mm,” explains Sir James Dyson, the company’s founder. “To do so required rethinking our motor technology and dust separation systems from the ground up.”
To support its high-performance motor, the PencilVac features a two-stage linear dust separation system along with a new dust compression system designed to lower the need for frequent emptying. A hygienic syringe-style ejection mechanism allows for hands-free bin cleaning.
Other features include a swappable battery offering up to 60 minutes of fade-free suction, a magnetic charging dock, and two specialised tools: a rotating combi-crevice tool for hard-to-reach areas, and a conical hair screw tool for upholstery and stairs.
Notably, the PencilVac is Dyson’s first connected cordless vacuum, integrating with the MyDyson app to provide maintenance reminders, usage tips, and filter cleaning alerts. An on-device LCD screen also displays power settings and battery life.
