The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) is set to enchant audiences with a presentation of classics from both Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven. The evening of classical music will take place at the Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP), KLCC, on Saturday, 31 May 2025 at 8.00pm.
For fans of classical music, the evening will feature timeless works by two of classical music’s greatest composers. Opening the evening is Mozart’s Symphony No. 34, a vibrant piece written in 1780 that heralded the transition into musical Romanticism. Filled with celebratory fanfares and an exuberant spirit, the symphony sets the tone for an unforgettable night.
MPO’s Section Principal Horn, Grzegorz Curyla will also take the spotlight performing Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4. Curyla, one of Poland’s leading horn players, has previously collaborated with prestigious orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, and Sydney Symphony Orchestra, among others. He joined the MPO in 2015 and has since become a prominent figure in the local classical music scene.
The evening will conclude with Beethoven’s exuberant Symphony No. 2, a piece noted for its spirited humour, sweet melodies, and unexpected turns. Frequently described as bold and unconventional, the symphony continues to surprise and captivate listeners over two centuries after its composition.

As an added treat, the concert also marks the MPO debut of Andrea Marcon, a distinguished Italian conductor, organist, and harpsichordist known for his expertise in early music. With a career that spans performances with leading orchestras in Berlin, Monte Carlo, Munich and Salzburg, Marcon brings a wealth of experience to the DFP stage.
A prolific recording artist, he is the recipient of several prestigious accolades, including the Diapason d’Or and ECHO Klassik Award, and has earned two Grammy Award nominations.
Beyond the performance, classical music fans can also look forward to a special horn masterclass conducted by Grzegorz Curyla.
