Customising your dream space has just been made easier. Leveraging the power of AI, Wayfair has launched Muse as a way to inspire and personalise the home shopping experience. Designed to give users an easy way to find ideas for their homes, Muse transforms how customers discover, personalise, and shop for their dream spaces.
Muse utilises GenAI to provide endless inspiration through an innovative visual browsing experience. Building on the success of Decorify – Wayfair‘s previous pilot application that allowed customers to select from a few preset styles to see how their space could be transformed – Muse takes it further to provide a trove of inspiration and ideas to build their aspirational home.
The platform focuses on a heavily visual browsing experience letting users quickly navigate through rich imagery, search for any style that comes to mind, and explore or apply styles to build personalised collections.
“Our goal is to make it easy to create a home that is just right for you, and Muse delivers on that promise,” explains Fiona Tan, chief technology officer at Wayfair. “Leveraging generative AI, we aim to elevate our search experience to be the best in the home category – seamlessly blending inspiration and shopping – to reaffirm our position as the premier destination for all things home.”
How Muse Works
Muse links inspiration to Wayfair’s extensive catalogue, offering shoppable suggestions and complementary items for a cohesive look. Browsing shoppable inspiration on it becomes a seamless experience.
Users just need to type in a style or room – it can be as specific as “moody 1920s style living room” or as generic as “dining room.” Through rich AI imagery, they can shop the recommended items in each Muse or add to a collection to revisit later.
Upon finding a space or item that sparks interest, users can easily explore other Muses and products that share the same vibe. Upon saving a Muse, they can then upload a photo of their space to apply the style to any room.
“The home category is heavily visual and highly personal, and most people want to start their home personalisation journey by simply browsing for ideas,” adds Shrenik Sadalgi, director of research and development at Wayfair.
“Muse serves that need and is an endless inspiration engine giving customers the ability to spark an idea. They can bring their unique visions to life and even transform their existing spaces – all enabled by AI. Muse fosters inspiration and helps you create a home that feels uniquely yours.”
