Driven by its innovative strategy, robust portfolio and its electric vehicle offerings, BMW Group Malaysia has retained its position as the nation’s leading premium automaker and electric vehicle provider in 2024.
The group closed out 2024 with a remarkable show of business performance with over 13,500 units of BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad vehicles delivered. Most significantly, 66% of these models were locally assembled, earning the premium automaker its leading position.
Solid Numbers For BMW Group Malaysia
Additionally, to bolster their commitment to premium electromobility, BMW Group Malaysia also maintained its position as the Number One Premium Electric Vehicle Provider. Over 2,700 electrifying units of BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad vehicles were delivered last year. This accounts for 20.5% from all of its deliveries for the year, adding to a total of nearly 33,000 units of electrified BMW Group Malaysia vehicles on the road to date.
“The past year has been an extraordinary one for us at BMW Group Malaysia, one defined by successes and initiatives that reflect our commitment to innovation, excellence, and leadership in the premium automotive space,” said Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia at the Group’s 2025 business briefing.
2024 saw 27 new models and variants added to the group’s premium vehicle portfolio, 12 of which were fully electric. Amongst the new additions were the first-ever BMW iX2 xDrive30 M Sport and BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport, business sedan.
Leading The Premium Segment
Apart from its robust numbers, BMW also reaffirmed its commitment to Malaysia’s local automotive industry last year through the expansion of its Regional Parts Distribution Centre. The group is also steadfast in its mission to continue shaping the Future of Mobility in Malaysia.
One of the areas BMW Group Malaysia is intently focused on is its electric portfolio. Following its stellar growth in 2023, the group continues to see an encouraging response for its premium electrified vehicles. This was exemplified last year with the successful deliveries of over 2,700 electric vehicles.
With more electric cars on the road, BMW Group Malaysia is also expanding its state-of-the-art charging facilities. New EV charging facilities were opened in various key locations across the Klang Valley, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang. Through strategic partnerships with EV charging providers the group now has 2030 charging facilities in the country.
Robust Business Strategy
2024 was also a year of steady performance for BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia. Over 4,500 BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad were financed last year – 46% were fully electric and plug-in hybrids. Contracts funded under BMW Motorrad Malaysia also achieved the highest global penetration rate at 67% in the year 2024.
The group also achieved the highest scores in the world of the BMW Group for customer service. A feat achieved across all three of its brands. Additionally, BMW is also fortifying Malaysia’s position as a hub and key touchpoint for the group in ASEAN.
The premium automaker has already successfully exported over 11,000 vehicles to the Philippines and Thailand. This effectively makes BMW Group Malaysia the largest exporter of vehicles from Malaysia to the region.
