The city of lights in La Chaux-de-Fonds has called forth a fresh interpretation of the La Esmeralda Tourbillon ‘A Secret’ Eternity Edition by Girard-Perregaux. This latest rendition, building on the success of the original edition from 2021, integrates a rich honeyed glow and a symphony of pink gold, where light becomes an integral element of its design.
Inspired by the golden light that bathes the summer evenings, the La Esmeralda Tourbillon ‘A Secret’ Eternity Edition embraces the warmth with a contemporary twist. Girard-Perregaux, renowned for its in-house movements, proudly showcases local craftsmanship, with 99% of its components meticulously sourced from regional artisans.
The watch features a 43 mm pink gold case, embellished with Three Gold Bridges and a honey-toned Grand Feu enamel dial. Each component, from the case and bezel to the buckle, is precisely engraved, echoing the artistry of the 1889 original. The dial, with sunray and circular guilloché patterns, is hand-crafted using a traditional rose engine lathe, adding an artisanal touch of brilliance.
At its heart lies the Signature Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges, powered by the GP09600 calibre. With its discreet white gold micro-rotor for automatic winding, this movement is adorned with golden engravings that nod to the 1884 patent for Tourbillon.
The honey-toned Grand Feu enamel, created using the Champlevé technique by Donzé Cardans, ensures enduring beauty. The case back, with its fluted pattern and depiction of three galloping horses, adds a layer of enigma, subtly referencing the original pocket watch’s mystique.
As only 18 of these masterpieces exist globally, owning a Girard-Perregaux doesn’t just make a statement; it’s a rare distinction.
