Cristal Room by Anne-Sophie Pic, a newly acclaimed One MICHELIN Star restaurant, has earned yet another accolade as the recipient of the “Best New Interior Design” title in The South China Morning Post’s 100 Top Tables 2024. This prestigious recognition underlines its status as one of the most significant new openings in Hong Kong this year.
The restaurant is a masterful blend of hospitality, design, and gastronomy, brought to fruition through the collaboration of the acclaimed Parisian design firm Gilles & Boissier, Hong Kong’s Leading Nations Hospitality, the prestigious French luxury brand Baccarat, and the world’s most Michelin-starred chef, Anne-Sophie Pic.
Perched high on the 43rd floor of Forty-Five Gloucester Tower LANDMARK, Cristal Room spans 220 square metres and accommodates 40 guests, offering stunning views of Victoria Harbour amid the city’s hustle and bustle.
Upon arrival, guests are greeted by an exquisitely elegant entrance that harmoniously integrates Baccarat’s dedication to excellence with the restaurant’s artistic vision. Gilles & Boissier harnesses the city’s vibrant skyline, employing crystals and mirrored surfaces to bathe the space in a sparkling luminosity. The journey continues into the main dining room, where the open kitchen extends this enchanting play of illumination, while the private dining area emerges as an oasis of allure.
Every detail of the design is a feast for the eyes. From Baccarat crystal tiles to mirrored ceilings, the space glows with a radiant, almost otherworldly beauty. The 36-light Baccarat Zenith chandelier, displayed in a glass box, is the undeniable pièce de résistance. Its design rekindles the elemental origins of Baccarat creations and imbues the space with enduring sophistication.
The dining experience is equally captivating. A wall-to-wall carpet in soft shades of beige and pink delineates the space. Comfort is provided by the graceful semi-circular embrace of iconic furniture, including Warren Platner chairs. Smoked oak beams add rusticity while mirrors converge to enhance the sense of grandeur. Frozen marble sideboards, with their intricate design, create a sense of intimacy and exude understated elegance.
In the heart of the restaurant, the open kitchen features a stunning frozen marble surface. The kitchen’s two central islands, one black and one stainless steel, open up to the dining area, allowing diners to marvel at the culinary craftsmanship on display.
A secluded boudoir, hidden behind a glass and linen door, offers a touch of intimacy. Its walls, draped in pleated pink moire fabric, evoke the delicacy of Baccarat chandeliers, while the soft carpet contrasts with the wooden ceiling and cornice. Hanging high, Philippe Starck’s “Flou, je te vois flou” reinvents the Zenith icon with a surreal combination of crystal, pink, mist and frosted pendants, creating a poetic ambience of unrivalled beauty.
By day, Cristal Room offers a serene glimpse of Hong Kong; by night, it transforms into a glowing jewel, illuminated by a play of light that accentuates every detail of this architectural marvel.
