The shiny new Stonor 3 residential tower was the venue of choice for The Peak’s most recent edition of the Mavericks event, which took place on the 26th of November. First held earlier in the year, The Peak Mavericks aims to celebrate and bring together some of Malaysia’s young and dynamic movers and shakers from the corporate world. The event also served as a celebration for the completion of Kuala Lumpur’s most recent Japanese-themed development of Stonor 3, which is a joint project between Malaysia’s Tan & Tan Development Berhad and Japan’s largest real estate developer, Mitsubishi Jisho Residence Co. Ltd.
The event saw the attendance of Dato’ Seri Robert Tan of IGB Berhad, as well as Derrick Tan of Sungei Wang, Raffles Racing’s Kyan Yap, Ho Ching Wee of Infinitium Group, Emir Shafri of Publicis Malaysia and Shin Tseng, architect and co-founder of REXKL, among other young corporate leaders.
The guest list of some 100 people, half from The Peak and the other from Tan & Tan Development, were welcomed at the Stonor 3 ground-floor resident’s lounge, with its impressive decor and striking statement sculpture, where they enjoyed cocktails inspired by Japanese flavours employing sake and yuzu. It was there that Tan Boon Lee, representing Tan & Tan Developments, and Jiro Mearashi of Mitsubishi Estate Asia, kicked off the night with hits on the Japanese taiko drum. The crowd was then treated to a rousing performance on the traditional drums, before heading up to the pool lounge to properly start of the event.
Mindy Teh, Editor-In-Chief of The Peak welcomed the guests in her speech, saying “Many people have asked me why we name this event series as ‘Mavericks’ and we named it for Senator John McCain. He was fearless and a true maverick. Our Mavericks events honour people like you. People who think, who lead differently and who dare to go off the beaten track. All of you are dynamic and you are disruptors who make a difference in this country.â€
Then, on behalf of Stonor 3, Tan & Tan’s Tan Boon Lee introduced the property to guests. “This collaboration of over 5 years has brought an immense sense of respect, friendship, professionalism and an understanding of each other that goes beyond our borders. Stonor 3 encompasses Tan & Tan Development’s over 50 years of experience in Malaysia and it is now coupled with Mitsubishi Jisho Residence’s DNA of quality, excellence and unwavering after sales service.â€
“In Southeast Asia, Mitsubishi Jisho Residence Co. Ltd has already formed joint ventures in in 7 countries. Among our many projects in the region, perhaps Stonor 3 is the most memorable because it is our first project in this wonderful country, Malaysia. We decided to join this project in 2014, because the location is excellent. But the most important reason is the chance to work with an excellent business partner that is Tan & Tan,†Jiro Mearashi agreed, further expanding on how the partnership came to be between the two developers.
Minister Kaname Araki, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Japan, the guest of honour at the party, also said a few words, highlighting the strengthening of relationships between Malaysia and Japan. “This joint venture between two real estate developers – Tan & Tan Development Berhad and Mitsubishi Jisho Residence Co. Ltd. will certainly usher in a new phase in the friendship shared by our two nations. According to statistics, the number of Japanese people living in Malaysia has increased by 2.5 times to 22,555. Many Japanese find themselves at home in Malaysia with its strategic location, affordable living costs and friendly people. This joint venture between Tan & Tan and Mitsubishi Jisho Residence Co. Ltd. for Stonor 3 will ensure that this development will become a much sought-after residence for locals and expats alike, and especially so for those wishing to invest in property here under the attractive Malaysia My Second Home initiative.â€
After networking and lively conversation fuelled by a delectable buffet spread of Japanese food and smooth alcohol, The Peak’s guests were treated to an exclusive tour of two units available in the building. Each unit is kitted out with luxury finishes such as teak wood floors, HansGrohe showers, De Dietrich built-in fridge and the uniquely Japanese semi-sunken sitting bath. A total of five unit types are available within the Stonor 3 development measuring between 649sqft and 1,232 sqft, letting residents choose the perfect size for their needs. With facilities that include a fully-stocked gym and 40m infinity pool, guests were also taken right up to the rooftop garden on the 40th floor, with stunning views of the KL skyline and the Petronas Twin Towers, afforded by the building’s prime location on Jalan Stonor just a stone’s throw away from KLCC.
