For the longest time Breitling was considered the master of the skies; their Navitimer was a longstanding icon of the brand and still remains one of the more popular pilot’s watches to date. However, with a new CEO on board, their direction has now expanded to encompass the realms of both land and sea.
It is not that far a stretch for Breitling as unbeknownst to most, the Swiss watchmakers already had a collection of dive watches that date back to 1957. The Superocean was created back then for professional divers but as with the dive watches of today, was quickly adopted by the public for more general use. Last year, the Superocean Heritage line was revived, modernizing the collection but still keeping its design elements; and this year Breitling has announced the Superocean Heritage II.
In keeping with today’s watch trends, the case of the new Superocean Heritage II comes in 42mm or 44mm variations and even offers a new stainless-steel bezel with an ultra-hard high-tech ceramic ring that is both scratchproof and extremely shock-resistant.
Superocean Héritage II B01 Chronograph 44
Undoubtedly the flagship reference of this new collection, this watch comes with the in-house Calibre B01 chronograph movement. Since its introduction, this movement has already established itself as one of the most reliable mechanical movements with an impressive power reserve of more than 70 hours. Furthermore, the contrasting panda dial with subdials at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock give the watch quite a nice vintage look.
Superocean Héritage II B20 Automatic 44
For those looking for a more classic dive watch, the Superocean Héritage II B20 Automatic 44 will be the more suitable choice. It offers a simple, three hand function with a date window at the 6 o’clock position. Designed with elegance in mind, both the indications on the bezel and dial are done in a baton style. The best part of this watch is of course the B20 movement ticking within that is also a manufacture movement that is COSC certified and based on the tried and trusted Tudor Caliber MT5612.
