MOONSHINE

Upping its game further, Saxony watchmaker Glashütte Original recently unveiled the Senator Excellence Panorama Date Moon Phase, which beats with the manufactory Calibre 36 – the toast of the town since its launch in the spring of 2016 with an innovative silicon balance spring and power reserve of up to an impressive 100 hours.

The newest addition to the Senator Excellence family combines a date display with a moon phase complication – glimpsed through diamond milled apertures on the exquisitely crafted dial. In another display of excellence, the moon phase is accurate to 122 years. So, you’ll have to wait an inordinate amount of time to correct it to the synodic (lunar) month. However, should you find the need to reset the moon phase or change the date, it can be done via the crown that also serves to wind the watch and set the time. The handsome bluesteeled three-hander timepiece comes in classic stainless steel and stately 18K red gold.
