Our Baselworld Favourites from Rolex, Bulgari, Corum and Bell & Ross

The world’s most anticipated watch and jewellery fair turns 100 this year. To coincide with the celebrations, here’s a sneak peek of the lovely novelties that are set to dominate the wrists of horologists for the coming months ahead.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller

Rolex may be diving to the depths of the sea this Baselworld, but they’re swimming just fine with the Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller. Updated in celebration of its 50th anniversary, the diver’s watch is equipped with a Cyclops lens on the crystal at 3 o’clock that easily lets the wearer tell the date. The larger case (43mm) now houses a new calibre 3235 movement – used for the first time in a Rolex Professional category watch. Waterproof up to 4,000 feet thanks to the world-renowned Triplock triple waterproofness system, we’re telling Rolex: I’ll follow you deep sea, baby.

Bulgari LVCEA Moon Phases

We’re mooning for Bulgari’s stellar  LVCEA Moon Phases that features the dreamy moon-phase that has been the object of admiration since the 18th century. Strong yet feminine, the diamond-set hour-markers on the mother-of-pearl dial replicate a night sky sprinkled with stars surrounding the silvery moon. Depending on the  sparkling white gold or romantic gold models, the sky behind the moon matches the intense colour of the alligator leather strap.

Corum Golden Bridge Rectangle

Adding to the stunning Golden Bridge collection is this Art Deco inspired rectangular timepiece. The updated Dino Modolo design creates a natural path for the eye to follow from the centre, where the Caliber CO113 mechanics drive the hands to sweep across the  18K gold structures representing six Roman numerals. This aurum piece of haute horlogerie is also fully water-resistant to 30 meters.

Bell & Ross BR03-92 Horolum

From Bell & Ross, the new BR03-92 Horolum is a marvellously designed piece featuring the iconic ‘circle within a square’ design, reminiscent of the clocks in aircraft cockpits. Its name, ‘Hour of Light’ – from the Latin ‘hora’ (hour) and ‘lumen’ (light) –  indicates the dial that glows with Super-LumiNova C3 when light has faded away, inspired by the codes of lighting on the runway, used to guide pilots night and day. Powered by the always dependable calibre BR-CAL.302 mechanical automatic movement, this luminescent timepiece is limited to only 500 pieces.
