If you’re looking for a space that will both challenge and expand your wine connoisseurship, you’ll do well to make a reservation at The Point Restaurant & Bar now. The intimate venue, located in Medan Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, combines two different concepts under one roof. The restaurant offers creative Asian and European dishes using the finest ingredients, all distinctively and delicately tweaked, as well as degustation menus that highlight seasonal ingredients.

The real gem at The Point, however, is the Wine Bar on the second floor, with its extensive selection of both new world and old world wines. Showcasing around 450 labels, the selection emphasises some of the best vineyards, terroir, vintages and wine producers from each region around the world, and are all stored in Liebherr Barrique chillers to ensure consistent temperature and humidity control at all times. The bar also makes the point – no pun intended – of employing elegant glassware from Gabriel-Glas that concentrates the wine’s bouquet regardless if it’s red, white or sparkling. A unique collaboration between wine critic René Gabriel and glassmaker Siegfried Seidl, Gabriel-Glas is also exclusively distributed in Malaysia by The Point.

To further its objective of cultivating and expanding wine connoisseurship locally, The Point has set up a non-membership wine club that conducts monthly tasting sessions that features guest speakers as well as some of the world’s most renowned wine makers and vintages. Such has been its success thus far, The Point was only one of seven restaurants in Malaysia to receive Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence for its outstanding dedication to wine.
