This weekend, the world’s most prestigious watch brands will converge in Geneva to show their support for Only Watch, the renowned biennial charity event that invites the crème de la crème in the world of Haute Horlogerie to contribute a unique timepiece for a noble cause. Established in 2005 by Luc Pettavino, proceeds generated from this event will be channelled towards finding a cure for neuromuscular diseases such as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Now in its seventh edition, this year’s event makrs the first time that Only Watch will be hosted by the prestigious British auction house Christie’s. Here’s a look at some of the one-of-a-kind creations that will be auctioned off to the highest bidder with a heart of gold.
01 PATEK PHILIPPE REFERENCE 5208T-010
Specially created for Only Watch 2017, this latest timekeeping creation from Patek Philippe is the first and only version of this unique grand complication wristwatch to have been produced in titanium – a lustrous metal that is rarely used by the 178-yearold Swiss master watchmaker. Features of this illustrious wonder include a minute repeater, a monopusher chronograph and an instantaneous perpetual calendar complete with day/night indication. Powering the watch is the Calibre R CH 27 PS QI, a self-winding mechanical movement with micro-rotor that has been plated with black rhodium, resulting in a distinctive sheen unlike any other that can be fully appreciated via the transparent caseback, while additional finishing touches include a hand-guillochéd pattern resembling intricate weaves found in carbon-fibre adorning both the micro-rotor and blue dial. The winning bidder will also have an opportunity to bring a friend to visit the official Patek Philippe museum, attend workshops as well as enjoy a private lunch with Thierry Stern, the President of Patek Philippe.
