Hublot Commits to Saving the Rhino

Limited edition timepiece to raise funds for world’s largest rhino sanctuary

Hublot has initiated to a partnership with former international cricketer Kevin Pietersen and SORAI – Save Our Rhino Africa India – to conserve rhinoceroses threatened with extinction. The partnership takes the form of the Big Bang Unico SORAI, from which a large proportion of the funds raised from sales will be directly channeled to Care for Wild, the largest rhino orphanage and sanctuary in the world, and the South African National Parks agency, which manages the country’s 19 national parks, to reinforce its nocturnal surveillance capabilities using airborne thermal intelligence tools.

Symbolic of the alliance, the limited edition timepiece’s 45-mm ceramic dial replicated the sandy tones of the sumptuous African bush and houses the image of a white rhinoceros. While the Big Bang Unico SORAI is strapped onto a matching NATO bracelet, it also comes with a camouflage style option of the second bracelet, which is made of rubber. The selective vulcanisation technology produces motifs in long-lasting colours that are perfectly drawn with an accuracy of a tenth of a millimetre, a first in the watchmaking world.

The timepiece is powered by the HUB1242: UNICO Manufacture self-winding chronograph, which brings with it a power reserve of 72 hours. It is available as a special worldwide edition of 100 models and is priced at MYR91,800 each.
