ALL YOU NEED

Sometimes, it is we possess that defines who we are. Here’s a list of things that you didn’t even know you needed to be at The Peak of life.

1. FOR THE SUPER SPY
As a physical manifestation of BMW’s EfficientDynamics concept, the i8 proves that going green doesn’t have to be all work and no play. Not only does it offer a fuel economy on par with that of a small eco-car, the i8 somehow manages to boast performance levels well on par with any supercar out there. It’s no wonder it was chosen to be Tom Cruise’s erstwhile stallion in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

2. SHOE-IN TO WIN
Who says men can’t be as ga-ga over shoes as women? The house of Berluti, founded in Paris by Alessandro Berluti in 1895, is now one of luxury goods conglomerate LVMH’s brightest stars – and with good reason. Hailed as, quite possibly, the ultimate shoes for men of the world, a pair of hand-finished Berlutis are a treasure every self-assured gent should own. The suede driving shoes are darling, but leather is where Berluti really shines. Go for a pair of classic Oxfords or loafers, although the new signature shoe of the season is the Alessio. Time to fly to Hong Kong or Singapore to check out what’s new in-store then.

4. HEAD GEAR

Bell Helmets have been around for more than half a century now, and have created some excellent helmets in that time. We like the Bullitt, inspired by the very first Bell Star helmet and perfect for riders looking for a vintage look with full-face protection. It’s minimalist, gorgeous, fits perfectly, with either flat or bubble visors, and comes in a variety of colours – what else do you need?

5. POWER OF PRUSSIA

Adorned with chrysoprase highly prized by ancient Greeks, Roman and Egyptians alike for its many great powers, this pen just might bring you good fortune along with envious stares.

Unveiled at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2015, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver presents itself in a 42mm brushed stainless steel case with a silver-toned dial decorated with a ‘Méga Tapisserie’ finishing. Luxury’s no good if there’s no way of keeping it safe, and that’s where Buben & Zorweg’s Agartos Superhero Edition Mark IV steps in to save the day. Offered in a variety of customisation options that allows this vault to adopt a likeness after your favourite superhero, the Agartos comes equipped with five timepiece winders and a high-tech motion-sensor that allows owners to seamlessly access the contents of this vault with a brush of their fingertips. 10. MOVING MACHINES
Here’s one way to make movie nights at home an unforgettable experience. The BeoVision Avant from Bang & Olufsen is an avant-garde technological masterpiece that aims to redefine home entertainment by fusing futuristic design with high-tech wizardry. At first glance, this slim television appears fairly normal until you power it up. Not only does it include hidden speakers that will automatically descend from the screen, but it can also be mounted on optional motorised stands to rotate and face almost any position for optimal viewing.  Now, where’s the truffle popcorn?

11. ON A SPIN
In case you haven’t heard, vinyl is making a big comeback. Before you lug in the LPs and 45s that have been hidden for the last few decades, you’ll probably need to rebuild your stereo system, a task, as any dedicated audiophile will tell you, is an arduous one. The British-based Rega makes some of the best turntables in the business, including this gorgeous RP6, constructed from two pieces of float glass that improves accuracy, stability and consistency. It also comes in an array of bright colours, which will definitely convince you of the merits of vinyl.

12. MADE FOR THE WIN
Golf has always been and will always be an expensive sport. But if you think today’s club fees are too high, just wait until you find out how much these golf clubs designed by venerated Japanese club-maker Honma cost. Referred to as the Five Star set, these advanced shafts comprise expensive materials such as gold and platinum. Each single club is also precisely finished, measured and balanced at the hands of a team of master takumi craftsmen before being shipped right to your doorstep. This process takes at least eight weeks to complete, which probably explains its hefty USD76,000 (RM276,000) price tag!

13. BUST GO!
The world’s oldest candlemaker needs no introduction. Established in 1643 and supplier to French royalty, Cire Trudon has survived the turbulence of history as well as the introduction of electricity! Inject a little French art and history into your surroundings with its special busts, reproduced beautifully in wax and with the Réunion des Musées Nationaux’s blessing, of storied characters from French history. The ones we adore? Marie-Antoinette and Napoléon.

14. BUBBLY GOOD
You should have at least a bottle of champagne chilling in your refrigerator at any time. You know, just in case someone special turns up unexpectedly. Or, perhaps, when you need something to celebrate with. Then again, you don’t really an excuse to pop open that bottle – champagne is perfect whenever, wherever. Krug is among the noblest of the champagne houses and, if you have space for only one bottle, make it the rosé – heaven wouldn’t taste much sweeter.

15. THE LEGEND LIVES ON
The Omega Speedmaster ‘57 has always struck a chord in the hearts of horological connoisseurs for its vintage charm, and now it’s back and better than ever with the brand’s 2015 rendition of this icon. Conceptualised by Shuttleworth Design, the Astrada, which looks ready to take to the skies any time, has a superstructure built of carbon fibre and a hull of a glass/Kevlar foam sandwich. Luxurious ear cushions made from high-quality memory foam in hand-stitched lamb leather offer maximum comfort and low clamp force. The headphones can also be folded flat for convenience while travelling. As for audio quality, a closed-back system has been added to offer passive noise-cancellation. The new Vespa Sprint is a flashback to the 1960s, when its legendary predecessor, the Vespino, flashed down the streets of Europe. The new incarnation maintains the vintage aesthetics – the sport saddle and signature square headlamp – but incorporates modern touches like LED lights, a multifunctional digital display and redesigned 12in aluminium alloy rims. Sure, it’s a bit much taking it on a milk run; just that you’ll look far better doing it.

27. THE EXTREME
With less than 40 FXX K’s being produced worldwide, if you’re only hearing about it now, then it’s probably too late to get one. Like the rest of the Prancing Horse’s XX cars, the non-road legal FXX K is available to only the brand’s closest clients for a hefty price tag of USD3million that includes two years of Ferrari’s exclusive Corsa Clienti service. While Ferrari continues to keep its exact specifications under lock and key, it will tell you the FXX K is its first-ever car to boast over 1,000hp (1,036hp to be exact) and can lap its private Fiorano track in just one minute and 14 seconds, five seconds quicker than the legendary LaFerrari.

28. SPIRIT WITH SOUL
With upwards of 300 years in the distilling business, the Martell dynasty has certainly had plenty of time to perfect its craft. To celebrate its Tricentenaire, the cognac house decided to pay homage to its roots by retracing the footsteps of its founder, Jean Martell. This discovery lead to the creation of the Premier Voyage, a limited edition concoction blended using 18 rare eaux de vie. Housed in an impressive decanter designed by world-renowned French conceptual artist, Bernar Venet, each blend also comes with a special pipette similar to the ones used by the Cellar Master to extract and taste the eaux de vie from the aged barrels.
