CHARMED, IN KUCHING
The Peak’s recent Outstation Premier Dinner Series, organised in
association with the Four Points by Sheraton Kuching, transported its
guests to the mystical Land of the Hornbills that is Sarawak, a welcome
change for those accustomed to urban realities. Here, at the hotel, over
60 guests walked into an enchanting venue filled with indigenous flora
and dazzling table placements. The guests, which comprised readers
from Kuala Lumpur as well as local invitees, were warmly welcomed
to this evening of fine dining and networking by the co-host of the
evening, Deputy Group Chairman of Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad
Dato Sri Mahmud Abu Bekir Taib. Upon the arrival of the guest-of-honour,
Sarawak Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, guests sat down to
a delicious fare of beautifully-prepared dishes while being serenaded
by the Bung Bratak Culture Club sape players and the Kenwy Music and
Arts Academy Chinese instrumental troupe. The night carried on with
afters, where the guests happily toasted to new-found friendships with
Hennessy X.O and chewed on Davidoff cigars. Each guest also received
a pleasant token of the night in the form of door gifts from Tiffany & Co,
Lancôme and Cahya Mata Sarawak. The following day, some of the
guests were hosted by the Sarawak Club Golf Resort for a morning on
the fairways where camaraderie, sportsmanship and good humour,
despite the late, late ending of the night before, was aplenty.
