Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launches the locally assembled E-Class.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today followed up on the introduction of the E-Class last year with a locally assembled model. According to Mark Raine, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s Vice President for Sales & Marketing Passenger Cars, response to the E-Class has made it the best-selling CBU introduction model to date. He said: “With the new locally-assembled E-Class, we mark a new era in locally produced cars and firmly cement our position as the leading premium luxury brand in Malaysia, always pursuing our claim to be the best or nothing.”

Three variants are available: the E 200 Avantgarde Line, E 250 Avantgarde Line and E 250 Exclusive Line. The latter features the classic Mercedes radiator grille with the star on the bonnet, while the former is identifiable by the sports radiator grille with a large Mercedes star as its centrepiece. All three variants are powered by a four-cylinder 2.0-litre engine linked to the new 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission. DYNAMIC SELECT offers four drive modes – ‘Comfort’, ‘ECO’, ‘Sport+’ and ‘Sport’ – while the additional ‘Individual’ option allows you to configure your vehicle to suit your own preferences. The E-Class also comes with AGILITY CONTROL suspension, with selective damping system and lowering to ensure a well-balanced ride comfort on any road surface.

The E 250 Exclusive Line is one of three locally assembled E-Class variants that Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has released.

Inside, occupants enjoy a sensual interior with spacious architecture that combines the elegance of the luxury class with sportiness. High-quality materials, including open-pore wood, a novel metal fabric, and the optional leather-covered doors and the beltline, define the interior style. The interior lighting makes exclusive use of durable, energy-saving LED technology, and the same applies to the enhanced ambient lighting included in the lines. With 64 colours, it offers a host of possibilities for personalisation, and adds touches of light to the trim parts, central display, front stowage facility on the centre console, handle recesses, door pockets, front and rear footwells, overhead console and tweeters.

You will also find two next-generation high-resolution displays, each with a wide 12.3-inch screen, that visually conflate into a wide-screen cockpit that seems to be hovering in thin air. The multifunction steering wheel features unique touch control buttons that let the driver operate the instrument cluster and multimedia system with horizontal and vertical swiping movements of the finger. Multifunction Telephony allows mobile phones to be charged and, at the same time, connected to the vehicle’s exterior aerial without the need for cables or telephone holder. The wireless, inductive charging system works with all mobile devices that support the Qi standard. Thanks to the Mercedes-Benz-developed Frontbass system, the E-Class delivers a unique listening experience, using the space in the cross- and side-member of the body structure as a resonance chamber for the bass speakers. The Burmester surround sound system with 13 high-performance speakers has been precisely configured to ensure an impressive listening experience.

The MULTIBEAM LED headlamps feature 84 individually controlled high-performance LEDs each.

In addition to PRE-SAFE, Active Brake Assist and Parking Pilot, the E-Class also features MULTIBEAM LED headlamps, each with 84 individually controlled high-performance LEDs that automatically illuminate the road with precision-controlled distribution of exceptionally bright light without dazzling other road users. All functions of the Intelligent Light System in low- and high-beam mode can also be depicted purely digitally and without mechanical actuators for the first time, including, as a world first, a purely electronically implemented active light function.
