The new BMW 5 Series merges refined engineering and an unmatched degree of connectivity.

BMW Group Malaysia today unveiled the all-new BMW 5 Series. First introduced in 1972, the seventh generation of the sporty business sedan features enhanced driving dynamics, unbeatable line-up of assistance systems, unmatched degree of connectivity, and a new and innovative operating system, making it the most innovative premium executive sedan to date.

For the first time, the famous kidney grille and headlights are directly linked, with the BMW Adaptive full-LED headlights enhanced with roundabout light and high beam with a range of 500m. The low roof line sloping to the rear lends the muscular body an elegant coupé-like silhouette and, also for the first time, the crease below the side windows curves upwards into the Hofmeister kink for a more dynamic appearance.

A newly designed chassis, low centre of gravity, BMW’s hallmark even weight distribution and a lightweight body – up to 100kg less than its predecessor, thanks to increased use of aluminium and high-strength steels – as well as airflow-optimising elements contribute to the best drag coefficient of any sedan (up to cd=0.22).

The all 5 Series also offers seamless connectivity through the latest-generation iDrive system that displays navigation and entertainment features, including vehicle functions, on a high-resolution 10.25-inch touch screen. The system can be operated using the iDrive controller, by voice command or gestures, or by touching the display controls directly.

You will also find the latest innovations in driver assistance systems, including Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, which adjusts pre-set speeds to the traffic situation based on radar and camera data, and the Speed Limit Info with Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, which detects speed limits and feeds them into the Active Cruise Control.

Connectivity has also been enhanced with the self-learning BMW Connected mobility assistant, which supports individual mobility planning inside and outside the vehicle, offering, among others, time-to-leave recommendations and remote access to vehicle functions. Access to the vehicle is via the BMW Display Key with LCD colour display and touch control panel, which displays information about the vehicle’s status and allows selected functions to be controlled via the integrated touch display.

With the M Sport package, the BMW 530i M Sport will boast 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in double spoke style with mixed tyres, M Sport brake with blue painted callipers with ‘M’ designation, as well as M Aerodynamics components. Inside, it is fitted with sports seats for the driver and front passenger, illuminated M door sill finishers, new M specific pedals and M leather steering wheel.

Powered by the latest-generation inline four-cylinder two-litre petrol engine mated with an equally optimised eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, the BMW 530i M Sport generates a maximum output of 252hp, torque of 350 Nm and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds at a top speed of 250 km/h. Average fuel consumption stands at 5.8l per 100 km. In addition to the Comfort, Sport and Eco Pro driving modes, drivers will now have access to Adaptive mode, where the steering, DDC and Steptronic systems automatically adapts to the current driving style and route ahead.

The all-new BMW 5 Series is available in Black Sapphire, Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect, Alpine White and Mediterranean Blue, and matched with interior upholstery in Leather Dakota Black with contrast Blue stitching or Leather Dakota Cognac with contrast stitching (only for the Alpine White, Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect, and Black Sapphire). The new BMW 530i M Sport will be available at all authorised BMW dealerships across the country from this weekend onwards. It will also be displayed at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur this weekend, where visitors can participate in interactive activities and stand a chance to win an exclusive experience with BMW.

The retail price (on the road, without insurance, and with BMW Group Malaysia’s latest Five Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty, Free Scheduled Service Programme and BMW Tyre Warranty Programme) for the BMW 530i M Sport is RM 398,800.
