Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort puts you right in the heart of Portugal’s picturesque Algarve coast.

Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort offers a gateway into Portugal’s sunny and picturesque southernmost region.

Nestled amongst orange grove trees and undulating wetlands, Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort puts you right in the heart of Portugal’s picturesque Algarve coast, merging sunny Mediterranean climate with the brand’s signature Thai hospitality and luxury. Located just 15 minutes from Faro International Airport, Anantara Vilamoura is close to the ocean, marinas and beaches of the Algarve, Portugal’s southernmost region, and boasts stunning views of the Arnold Palmer-designed Oceânico Golf Course.

Previously the Tivoli Victoria, this is Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas’ first foray into Europe. All of the resort’s 280 newly upgraded guest rooms, overlooking views of picturesque gardens, swimming pools and the fairways of the golf course, boast soft touches reflecting the natural woods and fibres of the region. The resort has also teamed up with local artisans from the TASA Project, which promotes the arts and crafts of the Algarve, to produce unique pieces for the 17 Anantara Suites, including hand-woven pool bags, locally sourced cork coasters and signature Algarvian ceramic fruit bowls. Further comforts include an in-room wine humidor, pillow menu and on-call butler service to attend to your every need. Suite guests also have exclusive access to the indoor pool and sauna at the Anantara Spa, while the prestigious Presidential Suite offers an impressive terrace with a private dining area, Jacuzzi and sundeck.

With six bars and restaurants, there’s no shortage of wining and dining options, from EMO, a new wine-oriented restaurant with a menu that reflects the terroir heritage of the region to the new lunchtime restaurant Ria, which serves freshly caught fish and seafood emulating a traditional marisqueira, or seafood bistro commonly found along the secluded Ria Formosa lagoon, located a short distance away. Victoria is the all-day diner, while the Anantara Bar and Lounge, the stage for the nightly sundown ceremony of traditional fado music, is the ideal spot for a pre-dinner apéritif and petiscos (Portuguese tapas) or a post dinner night cap. Anantara Vilamoura also boasts one of the most diverse Portuguese wine collections in the Algarve, curated by resident wine guru António Lopes – voted Portugal Best Sommelier in 2014 – who hosts tasting sessions that includes a private visit to a local vineyard.

With its location overlooking the championship Oceânico Golf Course – one of the country’s top courses – you’ll also find a one-of-a-kind golf guru on site, ensuring golfing holidays are not only seamless, but perfectly tailored to your needs and handicap. While it’s tempting to stay in, make the most of your time by discovering why the Algarve – birthplace of the Cão de Água, or Portuguese Water Dog – is one of Europe’s most sought-after destinations. Explore a coastline of pristine beaches, sandy coves and breathtaking cliffs, whitewashed fishing villages and castle towns, olive groves, wineries and golf courses, and sign up for a myriad of activities and guided excursions, including a tasting tour of the Ria Formosa, with oyster shucking and freshly prepared seafood from a local fisherman, or a historical adventure through the local villages and towns, and delve into the fascinating origins and history of agricultural treats such as almonds, figs, oranges and olives.
