Fully embracing the prosperous pooch in the Year of The Dog, Ruyi & Lyn restaurant at Bangsar Shopping Centre has unveiled Chinese New Year specialities that have us howling in joy.
First comes the deliciously creative “Wong Choy” Paws-perity Yee Sang with Golden Salted Egg Yolk Crispy Fish skin & Atlantic Salmon, where the ingredients are cleverly arranged to resemble the adorable face of a puppy. While it is an unusual arrangement, we can’t help but to imagine that love, loyalty and kindness flows into the New Year along with abundance of luck and wealth as we toss the canine inspired Yee Sang!
While we agree that the restaurant has many stars on the menu our top two contenders are the North Star Grouper and South Star Grouper, each specially prepared for the auspicious celebrations. The North Star Grouper is wok-fried with arrow root in Chinese rice wine while the South Star Grouper is served with pickled vegetables and leek in spicy clear soup and brims with flavour that simply floods your senses.
And to end the sumptuous meal on a sweet note, the Chinese Caramel “Nian Gao” with coconut is presented- made to perfection and highly evocative of childhood memories where you’d happily nosh down on these home-made treats in your grandmother’s kitchen.
